Things parking-wise have been as bad as ever around
here recently, not helped by the heavy rain. Walking
back to your front door from where you’ve left your
car in the nearest space at the other end of the
street is not pleasant when it’s pouring down! Some
residents didn’t have their bins emptied for 2 weeks
as the wagon couldn’t get access. We’ve had more
silly parking across corners which makes it hard for
everyone to get round. So, I made a few phone
calls...
At the Council’s Traffic Section the wheels are moving to get our residents’ parking scheme, but as we were warned at the Public meeting, it is a slow process. Right now they are waiting for final approval for the scheme, which should be soon, and after that the consultation process should start. Watch out for a letter asking if you’re in favour of having a scheme, and get your reply in QUICK!
The car park at United Utilities is still largely empty while round here is stuffed. I’ve been in touch again with my contact at UU and he is still willing to have some contractors’ vehicles on that space. I spoke next to a new contact at the hospital (it is their contractors and sub-contractors who are parking here). He said he would take up the issue with Bovis - the main contractor - and UU. He also said he would have another go with Electricity North West who own the bit of the car park nearest the Groves and which is completely empty. When I called them they were not interested in helping. He said he would keep me in touch with developments.
