Developments...

We’ve had some encouraging phone calls and emails this week. I’ve enlisted the help of one of our Councillors to help nudge the hospital and its contractors into action to see about taking up the offer of space in the United Utilities car park. He has enlisted the head of Regeneration at the Council and our Ward Coordinator and they have been in contact with Bovis. We await further news with bated breath...

This is all about getting some temporary relief by putting some of the contractor vehicles in one of the under-used car parks right beside us. As this recent picture shows, it is much needed. The phone call was from Damian, a supervisor from Refuse Collection responding to calls from several residents about lack of bin collection in Upper West Grove (is this a problem on other Groves?) We’ve had 4 missed collections since September. Damian was sympathetic, but told us what we already knew - there isn’t space for their wagon to get in and drive around. He is also taking up the issue with the Council, so that will hopefully also help apply a bit of pressure to get things moving.

You will have seen from the Councillors’ letter put through the doors that the final approval of the funding for the residents’ parking scheme has gone through and the consultation process will start soon. More progress.

Finally, the Groves parking situation will be featured on ALLFM 96.9 next Tuesday (November 11) on the On The Move programme from 10-11am.
