Second Meeting Report
16/07/09 12:25 Filed in: News
The second meeting of Councillors, Ward Coordinator,
Traffic Section and resident's representatives from
the Groves and from Grove Village to look at the
issue of Visitor Permits took place on July 16. Simon
Cooke from the Traffic Section had brought two
options for us to look at, a scratchcard scheme and
an Annual Visitor Permit per resident. There was a
lot of discussion of the pros and cons of each, and
as before a lot of this centred on ways the permits
could be abused. I had to leave before the end, but
it was looking like a trial scheme will be put in
place for the first year and we'll see how that
works. One of the ways in which it will be evaluated
will be how local residents use the scheme. Any
mis-use by one or two could mean it gets withdrawn
and we all lose out, so it will be partly up to us to
be alert and spot if any cars are parking regularly
for the day on the Groves that don't belong to
one of us!
Once I have received more details of how the meeting concluded and what was finally decided, I'll post it here.
