Consultation Under Way!

The Groves Residents' Parking Scheme we were promised at the Public Meeting back in July is under way with a letter, plan and questionaire delivered to each house. If the consultation is in favour the scheme will be in place by the Autumn. Don't forget to get your questionaire filled in and returned by February 20.

One of the main talking points at the Public Meeting was permits for visitors. The letter states: "Visitor permits are not being issued due to the limited number of parking bays". This could be a problem for some residents, especially when friends and family come to stay. If that is the case, make sure you say so on your questionaire. If it is something that we need to raise as a group - maybe by calling another meeting - then please let us know and we will help organise it. As we have seen before, a lot more can be achieved when we work together.

Not-so-good news is that little progess has been made with getting some of the hospital contractor vehicles off the Groves and onto the United Utilities car-park. Unfortunately, despite the willingness of United Utilities to share their car-park, and despite involvement from one of our Councillors and Andy Wilson, the Ward Coordinator, Bovis have not taken any action. The hospital building programme is due to finish in June, so probably Bovis are just hoping to hold out, but getting some of the vans, minibuses etc moved even for a few months would still make a difference.

Question: Do you want to take this further with Bovis or is it now not worth bothering? Lots of people are now using cones to protect the space outside their houses, so maybe that's enough until the scheme is implemented. If you WOULD like to put more pressure on Bovis to take up the United Utilities offer, let us know. Do you have any ideas that might encourage Bovis to take some notice of us? Add them to your email.

P.S. I notice the scheme is to also include the Holker Close area. If anyone from there happens to be reading, please get in touch.
